Sunday’s rain have raised water levels for a trip on this less frequently paddled section of the beautiful Upper Schuylkill.  Much of this run is a remote, woodsy passage past mountain ridges.  The initial mile is a flat water paddle to the Auburn Dam.  A short portage around the dam.  Then the river moves along nicely with many ripples, class 1 and 1 plus rapids and a class 2 rapid.  We will take breaks and eat lunch along the way.  Participants should have good river reading and boat control skills paddling class 1 rapids.  The anticipated time on the water for this 11.1 mile paddle is 5 hours.  The Schuylkill River is approximately 95 minutes from the Philadelphia Canoe Club. Trip was change from Lehigh River, Walnutport Access.

Met at: Auburn Desilting Basin Canoe Launch, 440 Meadow Drive Auburn, PA.  Coordinates: 40.61037738759802, -76.11983710799761.  We will drop off the boats and leave a participant there to look over them while we shuttle our cars to Port Clinton.

Take Out: Port Clinton Softball/Baseball Field, Schuylkill Street, Port Clinton, PA.  Coordinates: 40.5787064236384, -76.02950864938006 At the end of the trip, we will use a vehicle left at Port Clinton to take drivers back to Auburn to get their vehicles and get everybody and their boats back together.
