River Canoeing (2-Days - Sept 25 & 26, 2021)

This course will be taught on the Schuylkill River Saturday (September 25) and the Lehigh River (class 1-2) in Jim Thorpe PA on Sunday (September 26). You will learn how to handle a solo or tandem canoe in moving water and easy whitewater. We will cover equipment, safety and rescue, boat control and maneuvers (eddy turns and ferries) in current. The class is a step up from the Intro to Canoe Class (flat and gentle moving water) and a step down from the whitewater canoe class (class 2-3 section of the Lehigh).

Please note there is a required boat and equipment fitting on Friday evening at the clubhouse (4900 Ridge Avenue) beginning 5 p.m. You will be fitted in a canoe and the canoe will be set up for you and loaded onto the trailer for the start of class on Saturday.

Please dress appropriately. No cotton clothing. Good footwear required, no sandals, flip flops or crocs. Make sure your shoes will stay on in turbulent water. Registrants will receive more information closer to the date of class from the instructors.
